Just to let you guys and gals know I am a certified measurer for B&C and P&Y so if you have a nice deer that you want measured and officially scored, I am willing to do that for you. All it will cost you is a Tim's coffee (large black). Thanks
Randy

Hey, what is the book minimum for black bear? I got one here that is about 20.5" green.

20" for the awards and 21" for the all time list. How green is your skull and where are you drying it.?

Where in "GOD's Country" are you located? What about "longhunter society" muzzelloader book scoring. I have a pronghorn I have been meaning to enter in the muzzleloader book but as far as I know there is only one official measurer in Alberta for them (Jack).

Im just a bit south of Edmonton. And yes I can score that animal you have. Jack and I had lunch together a couple weeks ago. Gimme a pm and I will give you my number.

Republic:

A skull or head has to dry for 60 consecutive days (outside a freezer) at ambient (non winter) temperatures before it can be officially measured. If you boil it to remove the flesh, its 60 days after it comes out of the pot - again at ambient temperatures. Only cleaned skulls can be measured.

ps

For anyone in Ontario or western Quebec, I'm a B&C, P&Y and FROW measurer as well.

I'd take it out of the freezer. Boil it for about an hour and a half, then remove the meat. Dont over boil it. Use a bent coathanger to remove the brains. Get rid of every piece of flesh you can. Then soak it for 3 days in a solution of Biz laundry detergent and water (3/4 cup Biz and 1 gallon of water.) Dont bleach it.
The teeth will fall out. Just glue them back in with white glue. Paint them white if you like. Give the skull a couple or three light coats of clear spray laquer. Done.

Huntinstuff- I shot the bear last spring and threw the skull in the freezer. Just pulled it out, cut off some meat took a measurement and put it back in the freezer.
