Whatcha got? I'm in the process of replacing gear. I've been buying boots at Canadian Tire and they seem to last maybe 1 season and really aren't that comfy.

I have no issue spending if it's quality stuff but lots of reviews online of Oakley and UA stuff aren't the greatest. Same issues I have with Canadian Tire boots just at 2x the price. I've actually considered Matterhorn or Oliver work boots since my current Oliver's are about 1.5 years old worn 40 hours a week and are just now to the point of needing to be replaced. They aren't very warm tho.
 
What do you want, like a mountaineering boot, a warm boot, etc? Usually for boots I'd target spending $250+ to get a pair that will last years.

Something insulated, to wear until maybe -5 in the early AM kinda stuff. I do a lot of atv riding/hiking on those trails with a German short haired pointer. Water proof ish is a must. That seems to be my biggest issue... Leaky boots.

Edit: oh and I've got a couple pins in 1 ankle, so support and comfort are pretty important or I'm hobbling around the next day
 
I can't figure out how to double quote on my phone lol. Those 3 look pretty good. I'm going to dig into them and see which best suite me. Pretty well what I expected to pay for good boots. I'm not cheap if it's quality stuff. I'm actually running klim boa gortex boots in the winter and absolutely love them. I forget what exact model they are.

I just hate buying expensive stuff and it's garbage.
 
I've worn Hanwag and Meindl with success. Also worn USA made Danners and they were great but not as comfortable as Hanwag or Meindl.
 
I generally say Irish Setters as my pair 4 years in are doing great but if you have ankle support issues they may not be stiff enough, it was my only gripe when I first bought them but they’ve been awesome. Warm, waterproof and the most comfortable leather boots I’ve ever worn. The came broken in basically.
 
IRISH SETTER (Elk Hunter) are the best HUNTING boots I've ever used bar none in over 40 years of tromping through swamp/bush/yuk. I have the ones with 1000gm insulate and a size larger because I'm also a fan of WOOL socks. NEVER had a leak but I clean them after trips and am also a die-hard user of SNO-SEAL. I only use these in the fall/winter though, too much insulation for warm weather. Spring/Summer/Fall I use VASQUE LEATHER hiking boots without insulation but also coated with SNO SEAL. Great boots.
 
In the mountains I've been using a set of Kennetreks that have been great. For flat land and cold temps I have a set of Whites that have also been great. These aren't Chinese made boots though so you've gotta pay.
 
I’ve used Zamberlan, Asolo, Scarpa, and Arc’teryx in the last decade. Between hunting and my other outdoor pursuits I am hell on boots - a pair of the above boots will not last more than a few years.

Good boots (like the ones above) are worth the $300 - $500 they cost if you hunt in a mobile fashion at all.

Fit is paramount. Either try on a bunch in store or order a bunch to try.
 
I've had great luck with Danner boots, more recently I got a good deal on a pair of Haix boots. They take longer to break in but are very good too.

I had a pair of Irish Setters and they were disappointing, advertised as waterproof and they most certainly are not.
 
Another vote for Danners. My Hood Winter Lights are just a phenomenal boot and will likely last as long as I will. I also have a pair of Full Curl GTX Optifade that may not last quite as long as the Hoods but are still super comfortable and water-tight after 5 years or so.

Oakley makes great glasses and I’ve heard UA makes some decent base layer stuff but for hunting boots I wouldn’t take a pair if you gave them to me.

5 years and still water proof? I wish lol. UA base layers are amazing, I have the base 4.0 for cold weather. Also have the summer stuff I wear under my coveralls at work.

I swear there clothes last forever. The hoodie I have on now I wear almost daily, its gotta be 3-4 years old. I just got the ridge reaper infil windstopper gear for hunting, that seems to be great quality.

I like to stick to brands I know and like, the reviews of the boots were pretty bad tho.

I'll likely end up getting the danners since that seems to be the most popular here. I've only seen bad reviews on the striker line.

You guys go up 1 size from your shoe size for em?
