I'd drive out for an annual event , tried to get that going out here in BC but too much on my plate.
would be fun to hang out with a bunch of m14 nuts and just be one of the guys vs being the guy hosting the event ;)
keep us posted.

love the elevated shooting platform..... gives me a great idea for my 1400 meter range hehehe (big BC clear cut at base of a mountain ;) )

Thomas (45acpking) got things right. Many, many of you M14 lovers don't need us any more. Just a few more newbies here and there and that's cool. I'm over 60 M14 clinics in 12 or 13 years now and it's all good. I can kick back and spend more time running ranges for PR and CQB. There are many experts out there. If you are unsure; just have a look around this forum here. Whenever a question or problem pops up, I noticed there are way more sources of information around this community! :)

It IS that time of year again, huh? Oh, how time flies... If I can get a few of the main brains out again, we'll put it on. Preliminary, tentative discussion with Notsorichguy puts us into the first part of June. I'll get ahold of Pop here shortly & negotiate his 2016 contract:p

Yup, was a fun decade 06 to 16 , while I've kinda moved on and only break out my tools for friends and family these days, which is rare considering I live way hell and gone, the m14 will always be at the core of my enthusiasm for firearms. I've grown a little jaded and a little more rough around the edges, but it suits me fine, it was never a popularity contest for me.
It does put a smile on my face when I see the handful of guys who truly seem to have gotten the message and have real talent of their own to use to keep on sharing the M14 knowledge. If I had a small part to play in that, I can hang that on my wall ;)
I will probably be in Dubrovnik for a good part of this summer so won't be able to make it to any events as I had referred to in my posts from last year.

Damn straight you guys had influence here! I believe both Pop & I had exposure to Barney's western swing three or four years ago. Pop was already deep into the affliction, while I had spent a year or two prior, fumbling with what I had read to that point. Notsorichguy's battle rifle illness is a little undefined to me but I do know that he has infected a very large number of victims over the last several years. Between he & Pop, there's more knowledge & 'been there, done that, than I could hope to accumulate. If both of these guys come out for this year's event, any attendee will be extremely well served!

Once we get the date nailed down, I can promise a good time on a good range, with some damn good people!

Wow time flies!

I'm definitely game for another one this year, and early June should be just right, sign me up!
 
2nd Annual Prairie Bootstrap M-14 Clinic, Day 0: Setting up and settling in

The calm before the storm at the Twisted Rooster Range:


Grass freshly mowed, gongs freshly painted, all the way out to 1000 yards:


The shanty town starts to take shape as the pilgrims begin rolling in:


The tarps got up just before a brief but intense evening rain storm rolled in, and we all waited it out over grilled elk steaks, roasted potatoes, and various libations. Tomorrow could see some more rain, but we're well prepared and Sunday is looking like all sunshine so far. Everything's ready to go :cool:

Guys, awesome weekend - I already have plans for next year. It will include some infrastructure and a more dynamic environment for the shooting portion. I seem to have regained some of my former enthusiasm for this platform. Any takers on another clinic & shoot later this summer? I'm going to host another PRS type event for sure, but may be cohersed into another battle rifle event as well.
