Going to be buying a Borden BRM action for a 30br benchrest build. There is an option to get it with a XP cut which is a flat spot cut in the bottom of the action. Does anyone see the benefit of this? Bat actions use it and some claim the use it as a recoil lug along with the thick rear tang for glued and screwed setups.

I plan on doing a glued and screwed setup.

My other wonder about the xp cut is the inletting but i figure that cutout can be filled with bedding compound.

What do you think?

Thanks

Not an expert but always thought that the Borden ‘bumps’ to keep the bolt face as square as possible to the cartridge was a clever idea and indicated a pretty thorough and thoughtful approach to building a precision action
