I got that rifle, from a friend, who bought it from a teacher at Borden. It supposed to be a training rifle fir the C3. It’s a cno7 receiver with a C3 barrel. Apart from the sterling mag, it’s as it came from Borden.

I wonder if it may not have been made up for competition use at ORA/DCRA matches.

My thoughts too. Ganderite came probably provide better information about rifles like this as he comes from a long line of DCRA shooters and may have shot this style himself or at least caught the tail end of it. This is what I remember (fading memory) from an old friend that did shot this style of competition.
At the DCRA there was 2 different competitions, Service Rifle A and Service Rifle B, Service rifle B now being what is called Target Rifle today. Service Rifle A was shot with an as issused rifle, Service Rifle B used aperture sights. At the time the target were the half black tin hat style aiming mark targets, so a blade front sight was used.
I am not sure what year the change over to the full round aiming mark came in, but I think some people still used the blade front sight on the full aiming mark. These days everyone is using aperture sights front and rear to center the round aiming mark.

7,62 Dcra rifles where converted mostly from long branch rifles, but also from any no4 receiver a client would had sent for conversion.
I have seen 7,62 Dcra rifle from savage and also British ones.
The rifle here, is not a Dcra conversion. It’s a rifle build at Borden, for training purpose. They used a cno7 receiver and a C3 barrel.

Can you post a picture of the barrel with the handguard removed. interesting that they would use a C3 barrel. Ron
