Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone knew what you could use for a bore guide for a Ruger #1H? I have no idea as to what to use, or even if I really need one. If anyobody has any ideas they would be much appreciated.

One idea.......

If you took a fired case, deprimed it and drilled through the primer pocket to fit your rod nicely, you could place this on the rod before screwing the brush on. Then as you start the brush in the chamber, push the case in and hold it there as you stroke the brush back and forth.

That is an interesting idea, I never thought of that. On that wavelength, do you think one of the brass conical bore guides that you are supposed to use if you have to clean from the muzzle would work in a similar fashion?

Taking Guntecs' very good idea one step further!! For years I have used the appropriate case drilled as he suggested but with a length of brass tube soldered into it. The tube is slid into the case until it contacts the inside of the shoulder then soldered. The brass tube can be obtained in various diameters from model shops.
