Bore Snake for AR15 - Comments?

I used one. It does a fair quick clean. Then I read in the precision rifle section that you shouldn't be running a dirty old bore snake through a barrel.
I think some of those guys have an autoclave to sterilize thier cleaning patches too.:D

Beats the hell out of trying to put a 20 inch rod down your pants, I bought one to put in my LBV pocket for field cleaning, you know, when zombie goo gets into the gun.

For feild use... why not. Other than that you can't realy beat a patch and good rod for proper cleaning, you can acutaly see if the patches are comming out dirty, or not.

For a realy cheap/expedient way(weed wacker line) :

Boresnake is the best thing since sliced bread

+1 The amount of patch surface area you get with one would be the equivalent of many standard sqare patches. I just roll mine up in a sock and throw it in the washing machine when I need to clean it.

I run a final patch through using the Otis system to make sure the bore is clean.

Firing another round down the bore will clean it better then a bore snake......:)

Haha :D . For real cleaning I wouldnt recommend boresnake but if you want to clean fast fast on the range, it's ok.

bore snake, a soloution to a problem that never existed unless your to lazy to really clean your gun.

99.99%

Wait till the first time it breaks off in your barrel. Works as a field expedient cleaning system when NOTHING else is available. Anywhere else, clean your barrel properly with a COATED rod and proper solvent/cleaning solution. There is NO replacement for a PROPER cleaning with proper tools. Don't confuse the two. :runaway:

That's what the loop at the other end is for....to pull it out the other way if it breaks, which is pretty unlikely. It's not your grandpa's pull-through.;)

Have one for all calibers I own. If I want to clean it very well I use some cleaning solvent and use 2 or 3 patches at the end. But cleaning after every shooting session with app. 5 pull-throughs is all it needs. They are fine and the results for AR15 seem better than with larger calibers. GTG
