Bore Snake...

I don't like them much for handguns myself. You're better off with a good pistol length rod IMO. Maybe if you had a semi that was tough to get all apart.

I use them for all my guns except for my sks, but that's because of the corrosive ammo.
They don't really work with the Enfield revolvers (the braided cloth gets caught on the ejector) but I use mine for my 9mm and 357 mag. I just pull it through twice and spray in a little Rem oil.

I am a big fan of boresnakes and use them on literally every firearm I own.

I really like them for revolvers and use them to clean the cylinder as well as the barrel.

Yep, get them, use them, love them. I had snakes for everything but my new.45. On night after a few rounds I was pushing a tight jag w patch through the disassembled barrel and the jag "popped" out the muzzle unexpectedly... with some force I shoved the leading pad of my thumb into the barrel ramp (sharp) and buried the ramp in my thumb. Krazy Glue (to hold my thumb together), cursing and oozing ensued over the next 3 or 4 days.

Then I bought a snake in .45:redface:

Cool! Thanks guys for the advice :) I'm getting a 22/45 and know they are a pain to disassemble so I will pick one up when I get it. Also will use for the other 9mm and such too! Thanks again.

I use both: 3 cleaning sessions with a snake and the the fourth the conventional way.. I like to be different..lol

I use the for anything I can't clean from the breach with a rod, but just for a quick cleaning....M1, 10/22, revolvers, things like that. I find they do a mediocre job at best compared to a rod/brush/patch/jag.

You need both. Don't throw out your cleaning rods.

But mostly, I use the snakes.

Of course with my flintlocks, they're useless.
