Borrowing a friend's restricted firearm questions.

Your ATT on your PAL (if it is the one electronically one) ONLY covers the guns registered to you. You (and possibly your friend) will need to call the CFO and get a STATT. Once you have that borrow the guns and the registrations and away you go.

The ATT privileges attached to a PAL with Restricted endorsement apply to firearms registered to the PAL holder.

But maybe I’m reading it wrong.

CNEPACE - if you are going to borrow your friend's pistol and take it shooting at your local club, be sure to print off copies of Brianma65's posts - then you will be covered if challenged.

Is that what your ATT currently says? Mine did prior to C42 but that changed when they standardized them...Since C42, my conditions are now prefaced with this..."These licence conditions authorize the transport of restricted and/or prohibited firearms registered to the licence holder within their province of residence by a route that, in all circumstances, is reasonably direct for the specific indicated purposes."

Yes , you're reading it wrong ! As Tiriaq has already pointed out, read what YOUR ATT conditions are and go from there. Unfortunately, in Ontario, mine (and most others) reads "valid for firearms registered to the holder" so friends guns require another ATT.

The CFO wanted an email from my wife and I authorizing each other to transport and use each others restricted firearms when the other was not present. They would only authorize this to the range(s) that we have registered with the CFO.

So your saying , you can only bring your restricted to ranges that the CFO day?

As per what the CFO wanted, we can only bring each others restricted firearms, when alone, to the ranges that we have listed as part of regular transport not requiring a SATT.
