This is why I don't "tear-down" my 10/22's that often......the slide wasn't "racking back", and then the hammer spring came out, and then the hammer got stuck.......it's been a lousy pre-Walking Dead kinda 1/2 hour.....:D

Advice?

What position is the hammer stuck in?

Are you saying that the trigger group is out of the reciever, the hammer spring/strut assembly is out and the hammer is stuck?

Remove the action from the stock and knock out the two pins holding the trigger group to the receiver; you should be able to yank out the whole trigger group at this point.

How the heck did you get the hammer spring to come out?

Kind'a sounds like you took out the trigger group, and the pin for the hammer fell out and sprong the spring?

Edit: got it all back together now :yingyang: , but the initial problem still remains - I cannot pull the bolt/get the slide all the way back !

I feel kinda foolish  - I just was fiddling with the hammer and out popped the spring ?... ....Anyhow, I jiggled the whole thing so that the hammer is now forward :) , I slid the hammer-spring into the "washer-spot", and I have that ejector down/forward as well.....

I have had the same problem......

Check the alignment of your ejector arm.

It should be straight in in line with the notch in the trigge group it rides in.

Cheers!

That ejector arm is wobbling like a "mother-%#*$"........any advice regarding that ?....:yingyang:

I'm leaning the ejector-arm forward every time I "re-mate" the trigger/hammer unit to the receiver...but no joy yet....:(

Right now :( , I think I just need a GTA CGN'er to help me fix this......I can't seat the "lower unit" into the receiver and still have the bolt/slide go all the way back once those 2 pins are replaced.....

If it just re-assembling the lower part I know how to.

Been years since I had a 10-22 apart. But from your description, I would make sure the hammer is down when the trigger group is re-installed, and not forward to a point that it jams behind the bolt travel.

Just my 2 cents.

If you can bring it to Burlington tomorrow, I will fix it... blindfolded!!:p

If the ejector sits right into the bolt cut,
and the hammer strut assembly is installed correctly,
and still can't rack the bolt back,
then you have the bolt hold-open in the "on" position.

That actually sounds closest to what is happening :( , but no matter what I cannot get the bolt hold-open to shift  , so i've been getting a bit flummoxed about it....
