Weight is a good thing in certain instances .
A hunting / carry rifle I agree that light is right but then no need for a break .
Computation rifle users typically add weight .
Weight can easily and cheaply be added to most rifles. The Botnia must be the most expensive means to add weight to a rifle. Stock weights cost like $50, which means the Botnia is an order of magnitude more expensive and that is not nothing.the botnia is so expensive because its not cheap to 3d print metal. end of story.
yes they are worth the money, yes they are incredibly loud.
Stop crying then.Weight can easily and cheaply be added to most rifles. The Botnia must be the most expensive means to add weight to a rifle. Stock weights cost like $50, which means the Botnia is an order of magnitude more expensive and that is not nothing.
I had an opportunity to test out the botnia Maxi on my 300prc in an mdt acc elite chassis, along with an APW Monster. At least that top brake looks like it should cost what it does.
The botnia looks like an “ikea - my first lathe and muzzle brake kit”
And after all, looking cool is 7/8 of the way to being a great shooter.
Botnia were stupid and posted a pic of what is inside. It's expensive because as others have stated, it's 3D printed. Which is extremely costly to do so. I would assume their brake has features that are not readily machinable without being 3D printed, which would make sense why they are that price.
I'm gonna make my own. I can CAD and have access to a metal 3D printer. If you don’t want to buy one, stop complaining about the price.
Not sure they are stupid. Their initial design was for two parts but would not stand up to the blasts in heavy use and was not as effective over timeBotnia were stupid and posted a pic of what is inside. It could definitely be machined in two parts. Mill the body and then cap it with a flat plate screwed in place. Could be made by a home hobbyist.

That would be awesome! Saying your gonna make something and actually doing it are long ways apart. Im sure Im not the only one that would love to see just how handy you really are! Pictures like they say,are worth a thousand words. There are pictures and even schematic drawings of many things available, that doesnt mean it can be built bye the vast majority of people. You, however might just be that guy!! IHFDII'm gonna make my own. I can CAD and have access to a metal 3D printer.
The posted pics of the internals and did a vid where they showed flow patterns and explained how the thing worked. Anyone with CAD skills and access to a DMS printer can copy their design. Not sure they are stupid.

Just got a Botnia from Luke at Dominion Outdoors, who, on a side note, is awesome to deal with. I’ve bought quite a few products from Dominion over the years and have spent a lot of time discussing gear with the guys there. Their customer service is second to none.
For context, I’m running a 20 lb 6 Dasher with an Insite Gen 2 4-Port brake. I bought the Botnia expecting it might be a little louder but would noticeably improve my ability to maintain sight picture.
After spending a couple of hours shooting from a variety of positions, my experience was a bit different than expected. Recoil reduction felt very similar between the two brakes, and if anything, the sight picture may have actually been a little more stable with the Insite. That was definitely not what I was expecting going in.
The biggest difference was concussion. The Botnia produced significantly more blast than the Insite. At the end of the session, I went home with the Insite still mounted on the rifle.
I’ve heard the Botnia’s effectiveness becomes more noticeable as cartridge size increases, so a 6 Dasher may not be where you’d expect to see the biggest performance gains. My next step is to put it on my 7 PRC and see if it shines there and then try to report back. If not, it may eventually find its way to the Equipment Exchange section of this site…..
