so i have bought a 1950 tula sks with laminated stock witch indiquate that it's not original stock form what i've read into other sks post in the forum

what i am wondering is if the rest of the rifle is all matching number, what is electro pencil and what is stamped or overstamped??

the same serial number is everywhere, the only reburb mark is the square with a diagonal line that is on the stock







 
I have one just like yours but the top cover's dated '54. I love the look of the stock, great gun.

Electro pencil is when the numbers look hand-written, engraved into the metal parts. Stamped is just that, with numbered and lettered punches. Sometimes you'll see an old number with a line through it, crossed out, and a new number nearby.

Lots of good info to go through here in the forums. I do like seeing pics of guns!
 
They electro penciled parts that were too small, rounded or fragile to be stamped. The gas tube, gas piston, the extractor, rear sight leaf were electo penciled from original at the factory. Any other part electro penciled to match a sure sign of refurb. They ###'ed out the original serial numbers on stocks that were reused and then stamped to match the rifle. Sometimes the stock's serial number was sanded off and then it was restamped to match a given rifle Same with other parts such as magazines sometimes the original serial number is ###'ed and the new serial number restamped. Some parts were sanded or ground to remove the old serial and then either restamped or electro penciled with the new serial number.
 
Very nice. I have a '50 Tula as well with a nice dark laminated stock. Mine is all matching except gas tube and piston and did not look to be fired at all since there was zero wear on the bolt face or movable parts. It was the original bolt with return spring which is nice.

I've wondered that. That was my initial impression too when I bought my first ever gun, a laminate SKS, and paid a little on the high side of the SKS price scale.. I didn't really know the pricing then, but believed the laminate to be higher.

I was actually a little bothered with the blonde stock at first glance since I wanted a dark red one. The box was opened and it was yellow! I was told the outfitter hadn't seen one like that come through yet, so I immediately liked it!

I really dig this stock and its mix of light and dark marbling, especially now, and though seen many similar, don't see them often look the same with high contrast like the OP's here :)

yeah thats why i chose this one :) sick contrast

at first i wanted to buy over internet but since i bought an svt-40 with 3 arsenal repair i wanted to see what i get

so i remembered a local gun dealer at some SKS that he showed me 3-4 month ago and since i read a couple thing i knew i could make a good choice by now.. and he had 5 tula 1950 with laminated stock for probably many year for less than 200$ so i could'nt go wrong

i tried my sks for the first time yesterday shot 10 round, its really fun to shoot wow haha!! but was wondering if its normal when the bullet eject it flight like 10 to 15 feet in the air is there to much gas or something ajustable with that??

Nope, that's completely normal to shower the person next to you in hot casings and spent powder
 
When I used to shoot my SKS with the gas piston in place casings were launched forward up to 20'. Was a pain in the ass to recover brass and it always got dinged up pretty bad from apparent contact with the op rod. Now I just run it without the gas piston and no longer have to chase down brass or deal with the damage from violent ejections.
