Bought a Colt Gold Cup Trophy 1911 22lr

I contacted Umarex on the mags listed on their website for the Colt 1911 .22. Here's the reply email I received.

Well it has the Colt name but certainly not the same quality. Its the old story of some will like and others wont, but I have handled both and compared. My opinion? Sorry, I'll pass on the Umarex/Walther/Colt. It just doesnt feel right as its so light and has a trigger pull that is ridiculously hard. The novel they have stamped on the right side is worse than Rugers' lawyer-speak. I cant help but think its the old Umarex imported 1911 starter pistol retooled and intro'd as a real pistol this time:D. Having compared it to the Chiappa and the GSG, in my opinion the winner is hands down GSG, then the Colt/umarex/walther/whoever and Chiappa. I am not a fan of the fixed barrel. But to each his own. Colt needs to reintroduce the Ace and have a real Colt in the 22 marketplace.
YMMV

**Congrats on your new toy. I am sure you will enjoy it..Didnt mean to sound like a knob..**

The review was certainly positive.
One step closer to getting one.
It'll be an addition to my Colt Woodsman Target Match & S&W 41...

Finally managed to get mine out to the range this weekend. I liked it, a lot.

I only put about 80 rounds through it as I was pressed for time. CCI Mini Mags and Velocitors were great but I didn't enjoy shooting Federal Bulk pack as it just felt kind of light. That said, the pistol had no issues with feeding, cycling or ejecting these three varieties and the magazine is easy to load. I'll be sure to try a few other varieties of ammunition next time.

Out of the box the trigger does feel quite stiff and gritty but that clears up with the initial cleaning and some dry firing with dummy rounds doesn't hurt either. Having already noticed an improvement, I am confident the trigger will break in very nicely.

I think this pistol will be able to hit nice tight groups and I'm looking forward to spending more time shooting with it.

How does this compare to the Browning 1911 22? Thought the Browning looked pretty appealing also. Pretty light, though.

So the Browning ; weighs only 1 pound,is 85% scale size of the 45 and strips basically the same as a 45..
Sounds interesting.
Anyone have one ?
Who sells them ?

i really dont see ay difference between thos and the gsg other then ambi saftey.

Internally they are worlds apart from what I can tell.

A friend of mine had a Kimber 1911 that weighed in at 23 oz. Too light isn't good, he had trouble maintaining accuracy.
