Bought a New 375 ruger.. got pics

I'd echo Boomers comments. That scope looks like it's gonna smack you in the face.

I'd also bed the stock as a precaution against splitting.

And..LOSE THAT GODDAMN SLING:runaway:

I have the same rifle (less the sling) and mine has a thicker black recoil pad. I also don't care for the stainless bolt on a blue rifle. I have about 120 rd. thru mine with no stock issues. A friend from Butte has the same rifle and his stock cracked at the tang down thru the wrist. Ruger replaced it and told him that it was a common fault and the synthetic stocks had some problems as well. Mark

If they know its a common fault, why not deal with it at the factory, so people don't get pissed at them for it?

They are replacing the hogue stocks in a recall.

The article in "rifle" magazine says that it is just a limited amount that are affected and that hogue stands behind its product. They are also trying to collect name and addresses of everyone with these stocks to send them a replacement.

I gt a brand new hogue stock, although the one the rifle came with is fine....

Good thing abotu flawed stocks is that they usually break within the first box or 2 of ammo.

That's been my experience with powerful rifles with wood stocks. Best to send it to a smith for bedding and cross bolting before too many rounds are fired.

My rifle just arrived this morning. Nice looking rifle. Straight grain wood but a nice color. I'm going to have a bit of trouble using the open sights. I have to push my cheek bone down pretty hard on the comb to get my eye lined up with the sights. The rifle came with high rings, was hoping for medium hight. Mounted a Bushnell 3200 3x9 into the rings and there is a little less than 3/16" space between the objective bell and the barrel. Will need a little longer eye relief scope though. With the end of the scope about a 1/4" behind the tang, I have to stock crawl quite a bit to get the full sight picture.
Now am just waiting for my dies and brass.

Well good hunting and shooting with your new rifle. I like mine very much and if it ever stops snowing Ill beable to go out and shoot it. Maybe Ill beable to hunt polar bears with it this year lol.

Thanks, notso. What highth of rings came with your rifle? If they are mediums and you are using extensions, maybe you want to sell them?
