I'm pretty stoked about this one. I just won an 1892 Colt in 41 colt in auction today for $375!!!
Well, $375 USD plus internet premium and the cost of getting it to me from Texas. Still, I think it was a smoking deal.
Now I need to get some dies, cases and a bullet mold for it.

Is anybody else on here loading/shooting 41 colt? What kind of loads have you come up with?

I'm going to see if they'll send it directly to me (unlikely), or get my dad in the states to mail it here, or go through one of the importers. No idea on timeline

Actually, you can, but you really need to have your ducks in a row, paperwork wise. I live near the border and usually get antiques shippped to a convenient spot on the US side. Then I go pick them up and deal with CBSA directly. I'm convinced that when they see this cherubic face they automatically assume a kindly, benign use of the concerned firearm. I also have the print outs (highlited, and tagged) of the Criminal Code Part 3 and the Firearms Act. If I get someone who is green I just show them what the law says and remind them that their job is to enforce it not create it. The only time I've ever had an issue is with this exact model gun. The CBSA agent in charge said it looked "too modern". I fortunately had the RCMP letter confirming antique status. It didn't take long to convince him that everthing was in order. Otherwise, it's just declare full value and pay your taxes. Just my 2 cents.

I did the exact same thing in 2008 when I was working in the US and still residing in Canada. You are correct in that you will probably need all the explicit paperwork and info to prove that everything’s above board if required.

I traveled monthly and was building a kit airplane at home so every return was a trip into the office to show parts receipts and although everything was above board there occasionally was a hassle because of attitudes and suspicion. Having your ducks in a row is very good advice.

Make sure you get the serial number before you ship. The #860 they used is off the Cylinder release. The one on the butt may be a whole lot longer. To be pre 98 it has to be under 91,200.

I’m thinking the same thing. I wonder what the serial number is. The assembly number doesn’t do anything. I have a 41 Long Colt M1892 that is still restricted due to it not being pre-1898.
