I was told the wood was spotless....but it's got an old crack through the forestock under the barrel where the magazine knob screws in (perhaps was screwed to tight once and cracked). anyhow, I'm upset...I spent some good money on this Belgian made beauty only to find that the stated condition ws far from what it is in reality. aside from GunBroker.com, where would I look to find one?

Well it may be horrible to some, but you can get some really nice synthetic stocks for the Auto 5. Cabela's in the US used to offer replacement wood for them as well. And you may check Western Gun parts as well. You never know what they may have. I'll also look for a card I have around here somewhere of a little shop I visited in Prince George. I can't remember the name of the place, but I was impressed with the little odds and ends he had stuffed around the joint. If I can find it, I'll give it to you. Congrats on the gun by the way. Their a great little number.

Thin cynoacrelate (CA or Krazy Glue) will take care of that crack. If you line everything up right when you glue it, only you will know it's there.

my complaint is the ad I bought this from said the wood was 'undamaged' aside from some coating that flaked off. I've made a complaint to them...just have to see where this goes now as a replacement stock is $110US. <_<

Is it a show gun or a hunting gun? cause the synthetic only set me back about 60$ last summer and allows my fathers belgian A5 to kill ducks and crush clays.
As an added bonus the synthetic is the only material that won't be broken eventualy by the recoil operation of an A5.

sorry your eyes get burned out with my ugly mug...

it's a hunting gun. with this and my SxS, I'm looking forward to both goosing and ducking this fall with my brother. I believe we've come to agreeable terms. time will tell when I receive the next package with the manual he forgot and a partial refund that will let me get this fixed.

Fairly common with the A-5's.
I had exactly the same thing happen with mine.
Now I have a synthetic stock on it now and I have the wood put away.
It's a tool to me, so, nice as the wood is, the synthetic stands up better.

Do you guys have any suggestions on where to find these synthetic stocks? I too have an old A-5 that works like a charm but has a crack or two in the wood.

very common in auto 5s... but they are awesome for shooting sea ducks. replacing with a synthetic will work. my brother and father both have done this due to the same issue... and they shoot fine with the cabellas synthetics.

Wholesale sports has replacement Walnut stocks and forends .
The Seller should have disclosed this crack to you and showed you pictures of it Before the purchase was concluded .
Maybe he can agree to pay for the new forend as reparation to you or as others have stated declare the deal Null and void and send it back COD .
