I did some research on the serial number, it was manufactured in August of 1942, well at least the receiver anyhow.

I've ordered a Boyd's replacement stock for it, mainly because I didn't want to mess with the original one. (Removing original markings). I have also been wondering if you guys think it would be worthwhile getting an adjustable gas plug, as I plan to to take her Moose hunting?

Thanks

Are you replacing the stock metal work?

Do you reload ? if you do and you use the correct powder/ you do not need a adj gas plug (nice to have )

Are you using 5 round clips when you hunt ? you can make you own--- internet search

I am replacing the stock metal as well. I am afraid of hurting the original stock getting it off. I plan on using factory ammunition only. I will be looking into making my own enblocs. Thanks for the tip!!

Factory 30-06 designed for the Garand isn't cheap and not everyone carries it. So in your case i would 100% buy the adjustable gas plug.
