Bought another 260...

I burned out to the range at sundown for a quick shoot with the new Ti

took me two shots at 25 to get it on then I moved to 100 meters and two shots later I was adjusted down to a rough zero and ready to try a group.

I had some 95 grain Vmax loaded up and tried them and resulted in a 1.42" 3 shot group

I then tried some 140 grain Sierra GameKing BTSP and to my suprise the group hit higher, MUCH higher than the 95 grain load. Two almost touching and one above for 1.8" group. I fired another group with the 95 grain Vmax and they fell near the center @ 1.53" 3 shot group

so far after a dozen shots Im pretty pleased with this rifle. Its being cleaned right now and tommorow I'll go out and see how it likes 140 grain Hornady Interlocks. Barrel definetely gets warm after three shots!

Looks Sweet ! But they carry so much sweeter
But then I'm sure you know that;)

Shoots pretty much about the same as mine did outta the box...pretty good for a 5-1/4 LB rifle:rockOn:

Thanks for the update.......Perhaps WE can smoke a couple Hawg Muleys this Fall:)

headed out at noon today to try some more 140 grainers in the Ti

Started out with the 140 Sierra BTSP over 45 grains H4831sc.

110y : .95" 3 shot, 2.32" 3 shot (2 in 1"), & 1.9" (2 in .53"). (1.57 moa avg)

220y : 2.06" & 2.2" 2 shot (.97 moa avg)

Average velocity for the 140 Sierra/45 H4831 load was 2640 fps.

I then tried soem 140 Hornady Interlocks over the same powder charge, 45 H4831sc.

110y : .6" 2 shot, 2.32" 2 shot, .63" 2 shot, 1.18" 2 shot (1.08 moa avg)

220y : 1.24" & 2.08" 2 shot (.76 moa avg)

290y : 3.4" 2 shot (1.18 moa)

Average velocity for the 140 Hornady/45 H4831 load was 2650 fps.

Overall fired 30 shots I think, I came home and cleaned it and noticed there was much less copper fouling than yesterday after the first dozen shots. Give it a couple hundred rounds and some tuned handloads, and I think this one will be a shooter (for a lightweight gun! :D) Sticking with the "2 shot groups" helps keep the barrel from heating up so much. In fact, barrel heat was the reason I rebarreled my first 260 (lss mtn rifle) from the pencil tube to a magnum sporter Gaillard). Recoil difference between my two 260s is a bit, this Ti snaps more off the bench. My 8.5 lb custom is much more tame.

That is certainly a fine looking rifle and I'm sure will soon be a tackdriver.
How does it feel regarding controllability taking into consideration what it weighs ? In other words do you think it would hold steady enough, say for example resting over a backpack and trying to make that one-time shot at the record-book billy ? No doubt about it, you won't have to pack it very far up-hill to appreciate its weight.....I'm very envious !!

Light guns are definitely harder to control. Even shooting off the bench with this gun I have to be careful not to hold it too tight or it tremors a bit. At its weight of 6 lbs 1 oz scoped, its still manageable to hold steady from field positions, although I haven't done any shooting except from the bench yet.

Well I can't speak for Tod but I can say I've found mine to shoulder very well...and have not noticed it to feel/react any different then any other sporting rifle when fired from a rest, log or whatever ???

Mine does "hop" off the front bag abit but doesn't seem to grossly affect my groups......it is a Hunting rifle meant to be carried afterall...certainly not a Bench rifle;)

It really is a treat to pack on long treks. I used mine to take a Lil 5x5 Whitetail last year and it dropped him with Authority, I was very impressed with the performance of the "lil" 6.5mm 125 grain Partition

IMO Remmie is really missing the boat by discontinuing these rifles ???
Or rather the Public missed the boat by not snapping them up ???

Either way they are a Great, lightweight sporting rifle

fired a few groups this evening just before dark

140 grain Speer spitzer over 45 grains H4831sc = 1.18" 3 shot 100 meters

140 grain Hornady Interlock over 45 grains H4831sc = 1.1" 4 shot (each shot from a cool barrel) 100 m

and to test its accuracy for hot barrel, fired three right after that group, which went into 1.83"

now I got some brass thats been fired in this chamber, and I will make some loads up tommorow and shoot them tuesday, maybe accuracy will improve a bit :)

Yeah I don't know what Remington is thinking, discontinuing this rifle is a big mistake, well they still make a Ti but they made it heavier, doubled the price and called it a "Custom Shop". I have seen a few custom shop rifles and wasn't impressed in either case with what your getting for the mucho increaso in price. The Remington Ti was a terrific bang for your buck rifle, I'll probably pick up a used shortaction some day to play with since my long action Ti is too heavy at 6lbs 3 oz scoped.:bangHead:

My 257 Roberts has the same bbl contour as your .260. with groups running pretty much exactly the same, between .75" and 1.25". ABs are about 1"-1.25" I'm happy with that. I think I'm gonna try 100gr NPs next.

Nice rifle, yours I mean.

I'm more than happy with a 6 lb rifle that will shoot MOA within the first 50 rounds down the tube, with no handload development beyond stuffing a bullet over a powder charge known to give safe pressures in a few different 260s.
