bought it this time. martini henry bayonet

P 1893, 1000 made for Canada by Wilkinson for use on the Martini Metford Rifle.

Very nice find.

this sent me on another internet search, and I believe this man has it right. Martini Metford, 1000 issued, found lacking for whatever reason, returned to stores, then declared surplus. now extremely rare. too bad the scabbard is not marked.
the above post by myenfield serves to prove this.

Canadian pattern 1893 Martini-Metford bayonet, what a great find.Only a few hundred of the 1000 have unit markings to R.R.C.I. making them very valuable. Is the scabbard also marked the same.It could use a light oiling to stop the rust.I have 2 + neither are unit marked.Nice pickup!!!

The 1893 bayonet often gets confused with the 1888 and 1903 Pattern.
Two 1893 are shown: between a 1888 for comparison.
The muzzle ring and the pommel are usually the giveaway.
Most 1893 are marked on the quillion and or the scabbard throat and the frog button.
