Bought my first AR - NEA in 7.62x39

Taking another look at your video, that's a gen 1 bolt - new ones are made with nickel boron. Kind of explains the condition and color match of your rail. Looks like a hodge-podge of various parts.

Should look like this

And if you're getting a replacement I would grab a windham.

Very interesting - Can anyone with a Gen2 in x39 confirm?

In my email to NEA I asked if they sell refurb rifles as new, referred to the condition of the rifle when I picked it up.

The new bolts are not made of NB. They only coat the bolt with NB which is useless anyways. Don't bother getting another NEA just put some money into a better rifle. NORINCO makes better rifles than nea.

Unfortunately AR-15s in 7.62x39mm don't work very well. That's why companies built brand new rifles like the CMMG Mutant to get 7.62x39mm working reliably in the platform.

My best advice to you is to send that POS of a rifle back to the dealer and get your money back or trade it with another brand. Do we seriously want a a serious injury or death to stop us from buying that POS?

Do what deagle2008 says, he has first hand experience with NEA "quality". there is a long thread about it on CGN. IMO NEA makes dangerous sub standard junk, you only get one set of eyes, why risk losing them by shooting a POS like NEA? Get a 100% refund, getting the warranty repair and passing the gun to someone else is bad karma IMO.

I take it that you haven't learned a lesson. The second time around could be worse

Well lets see what gets fixed/replaced, and more importantly how long it takes. Seems there are still other people out there running these rifles without issues and with their faces intact.

Over the phone they did mention I have a Gen 1 based on the serial #. Strange considering I paid for a Gen 2, thats a conversation I'll have to have with Epps.

The choice is yours. The people at EPPS are great and I'm sure they will make it right. I would suggest asking for a refund and get something better.

Let me know if yours fires the brass forward. I reload, and it makes it a pain to collect forward of the firing line.

I've got Windham Weaponry AR-15 in 7.62x39 and it ejects between 4-5 o'clock. Actually quiet convenient as it does not throw the casings onto guys next to me so no need for separation panels at the range.

The only guy with that ability is currently at shot show, right now my focus is getting a functioning rifle back. At minimum the rifle will need a barrel and BCG - I trust it will be a new upper.

In all honesty, I'm not sure if I'll shoot it again. I made the point to NEA that I was pretty spooked and that I dont want this to ruin the AR platform for me. I can't really return or sell it in good faith either unless I know it works.
