Just bought a Sig P226 on saturday.. so excited! Waiting for the transfer to go through so I can pick it up and start shooting at the range... woot!

Welcome to the wonderful world of handguns. Keep an eye on it though...before you know it she'll be spawning and youll be overrun with the things!

I myself just got a 226 aswell, loving it but now I want a 1911 .45

Might have to put my AR-15 project on hold.

:D Sigs have a bad habit of fornicating when around each other & the next thing you know there is a whole passell of them running around your gun cabinet:D:D:D

Bring it out to PoCo so I can fondl- er- shoot it! :D
Watch out, I got bit by the bolt-action bug; that's the one that'll really drain you!

Chiquita, I'm upgrading to the R-PAL this weekend and will be in your shoes in a few weeks. First, congrats on your purchase. Reason for my reply: I'm down to either the Sig 226 or 229, or the Glock 35, either in a .40 S&W. My third is the Beretta 90-two type F double action also in .40 S&W.

Why did you choose the Sig over the other selections on the market, and what were the contributing factors behind that decision? I think they're all around the same $$ so there had to be something about the Sig that made it stand out in your eyes.

I love the look (yet to feel or fire one), and the fact that LEO's everywhere use them are two big +'s for me. Now I need to know why every other Sig owner isn't a Glock owner.

Thanks for helping me with my decision.

We used the p226 at the range a number of times and quite liked it. Went with 9mm mainly because of the cost of ammo. The p229 was my first choice, but as i understand it, it is illegal in canada because of its barrel length (too short) The gun feels really nice in hand, good weight and size for us. Eventually i intend to buy another p226 in a .40

What daikinijayson said.. we have tried the P226 a few times at the range and it just feels good in my hands.. for a first purchase it was a no-brainer for me anyways.. :)

So from what the both of you have said, it's very much a personal thing about feel and comfort. I gotcha.
Well, passed with flying colours, so off I go "clubbing" and once they like me and approve an ATT, I'll be in the gunsmith's to fetch me a brand new toy for my toy box.

Many thanks for your opinions and insight. I look forward to the day when all of us Gun Nutz get together for a site sponsored Shoot/BBQ at the club of their choice for a meet/greet/shoot! wouldn't that be great?!

Can anyone comment on this? What is the difference between the two, and is the barrel on the 229 too short to be legal in Canada?
