Bought my first SKS local, went to the range with some friends and was told to just load up the stripper clips to 10 and load 5 at a time that way.

Put the clip in the notch, pushed down and...all 10 rounds were loaded.

So anyone know how to pin an SKS mag at home? Don't really want to be driving this thing around town as is.
 
just weld a metal rod to the underside of the follower arm. reassemble and load rounds to test. keep cutting and shaving bits off till you get to five. don't do it immediately under the follower i'd suggest a bit further down the arm just so it doesn't interfere with the follower pivoting.
 
This is what mine looks like, id imagine tac welding or epoxying a block similar to this would do fine.

Run it Back to Perry's and get them to replace the mag with one that's legal.
 
There are a number of ways to restrict a SKS magazine without making any internal modifications.
Which is the best choice depends on the skill of the person doing the work.
A block bonded to the inside of the shell would be fast and easy.
 
Report to the nearest RCMP detachment with your evil baby killing machine gun! Hahaha Start by removing the mag from the gun so u can work on it or get someone else to pin it for u. Do this soon before swat breaks down your door.
 
A, umm, 'friend' may or may not have had a similar issue. A small steel block and some JB Weld may or may not have been a good solution to the possible issue....
 
You bought it new from a dealer then you should take it back, even if you are quite capable of fixing it yourself , you shouldnt.

And definitely do not just replace the mag bcos the sn wont match.

Mine is pinned through the follower, just a tiny little post stuck in there. If they ever get rid of the idiotic 5 round limit, I can simply file one end of the pin a bit and yank it off, viola ten rounds. I would suggest if your going to get the dealer to fix it, make sure they do something similar. I've seen magazines with big ugly pins welded in the bottom or through the bottom, you don't want that.

Heck a pair of side cutters for that matter :) Agree on the 5 round limit especially when I can legally get a 50 round drum mag for a 10/22 ... go figure.
 
Just fill the magazine with cement until the follower only goes down enough to take five rounds. Or you could just epoxy a small block under the follower, but I'd say return it to where you got it so you don't go and void whatever warranty you have.
