Folks:

I have an ARMS 18 inbound from Wolverine for my M305. I've found some suggestions here and there on the forum (yes, I used the search) regarding scopes, but nothing definitive.

A few points of clarification:

- I'm a cheap bastard. I could justify $300.00 if I had to, but the less I spend, the better.
- I'll be hunting and punching paper.
- I'm looking at a maximum range of c. 300 yards, and as close as 25, so anything with six zillion power magnification isn't necessary.

Anyone have any scopes they'd recommend? Links?

Thanks,

Dan

I'm having pretty good luck with a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40. The ballistic plex works well for 308 and gives you aiming points for 100-500 yards. I think its a pretty reasonable hunting scope without breaking the bank.

Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical. Order from Le Baron (or where ever) they're going for $589.00 ish (with club card). Very good scope, 1 inch tube, target knobs, sunshade, side focus parallex, grabe some 1 inch steel rings & Butler Creek flip open caps and your roll'n.....look into it :)

The fact that he says he intends to use it for hunting makes the otherwise decent option of a fixed 10x scope a poor match in my opinion. I used my gun for deer hunting last fall and shot my deer at around 25 yards. A fixed 10x would have been like having tunnel vision.

For a hunting scenario where I would be dragging the thing around in the woods, I would be looking at a lighter 2-7X or 3-9X variable. I have hunted with a heavier tactical type scope on an already heavy M-14 and that wasn't my favorite combo for my style of hunting.
However if you are in a stand or blind...
YMMV.
