Bought the Shadow 2 from JoBrook...does it need anything?

So I've shot a Shadow 1 with lighter 13 lb. springs, steel rod, comp hammer, and adjustable rear sights for awhile now...saw the deal for $1299 all in at JoBrook in Brandon and couldn't say no! So...I handled a Shadow 2 at the range the other day, and it seems like it has the shorter reset, lighter springs, and adjustable rear sights already, is it missing anything in terms of mods that I can order for it while I wait, or does it already have everything? Does it come with a stainless steel guide rod, for instance, and is it the same part as the one for the Shadow 1? Anything else that can make it even more brilliant? My son's getting my Shadow 1, and I ordered the Pre-B disco for it from Select, which will give it a shorter reset and be the final piece of the puzzle for the Shadow 1...just wondering what there is to do for the Shadow 2? Thanks in advance!

It does come with the SS guide rod. The only upgrades if needed would be a 11lb mainspring along with a reduced power firing pin spring. That ought to drop the DA trigger weight down to a nicer 6.5-7lbs. Other than that, it's good to go right out of the box. If you're good with your hands/tools, a little polishing up of the appropriate parts will smoothen out the trigger and lighten it up another 1/4lb.

COngrats! You won't be disappointed!

A holster, extra mag pouches, a ton of practice ammo, and a determination to practice. The potential of the superior Shadow2 is unlimited!

The CZ Shadow2 eclipses just about every semi-auto currently in the market. With a barrel bushing, the CZ Shadow2 kicks the crap out of every auto out there without barrel bushings. It's all there, the price, C$1278.00, is an outstanding value, and puts just about every other similarly priced auto to shame. And......wait for it.....kicks most 1911's to the curb.

You made the right choice! Expensive 1911 makers beware!

Is it worth $400 to $500 more over the Shadow 1?

If you are being budget conscious and looking for best value, Shadow 1 is still king. But if you spend money on upgrading a Shadow 1 it defeats the value idea. Upgrades being things like aluminum grips, steel guide rod, pre-B disconnector, adjustable elevation sight.

Thank you Trinimon, I'm just curious...for the Shadow 1 I bought the 13 lb. mainspring and reduced power firing pin spring from Dlask Arms, and along with the 13 pound recoil spring and comp hammer it made a big difference! They, Dlask, still sell the pair; I take it the Shadow 2 now has the 13 pound mainspring stock which is why you suggested I might go 11 pound for the Shadow 2...does it also include the lighter firing pin spring? I think I'll keep the mainspring at 13 pounds for now, but seeing as it's only $14 for the two springs I'll get the firing pin spring if it's lighter. Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks Hatman, I was already enjoying the Shadow 1 after the mods I made, and the pre-b disco should be the icing on the cake for it as I hand it down to my mugwump! I'm looking forward to shooting the next gen Shadow 2...lol, I don't know how CZ is going to top the Shadow 2 in future, unless the Shadow 3 is a hand phaser? :)

The mainspring in the shadow 2 is not 13lb. I put a 13lb in mine and it did reduce the trigger pull weight, I would guess the factory is around 15lb.
Upgrading to 13lb is a worthwhile mod IMO

11 lb recoil spring, reduced power firing pin spring and 13lb main spring (lighter if you shoot USPSA).

As much as I loved my S1 and planned it to be my backup for competition, I just bought a second S2 and will be passing the S1 on to my son. It's well worth the price difference to me over the S1 if you're an IPSC shooter.

As others pointed out, the stock mainspring in the S2 isn't 13lb. I think factory is 16lbs but don't quote me on that but it ain't 13lbs and the factory firing pin spring isn't a reduced power one either. With a 13lb mainspring, you can probably get away with the factory firing pin spring but I'd still recommend getting the reduced power one at the same time if you happen to get light primer strikes. You definitely need one if you ever go down to an 11lb mainspring.

As for the recoil spring, seems like most guys are going with an 11lb spring over the 16lb factory one. I suggest checking the shock buffer in the pistol after a session to see if it's taking a beating. If not, carry on, if so, step up to a 13lb or back to factory 16lb. So far, my 11lb recoil spring is working well but I shoot my own reloads.

Thanks everyone, I'll order the parts from Dlask Arms then...I was just able to handle the Shadow 2 briefly and it felt like the springs had been changed to lighter ones from the factory, the slide and trigger felt similar to my Shadow 1! The owner swore he'd just bought that Shadow 2 that I checked out and it was stock...I guess CZ made the Shadow 2 a lot more user friendly by changes to the trigger and hammer.
