Can't wait to set it up, bought the 9mm and 357 dies, need a 223rem, 7.62x54r and 450marlin

Would I need a case resizer, trimmer for each individual caliber? Do you guys even resize 9mm?

Congrats! I'm looking at that press too. Where'd you get it and how much?

As for resizing/trimming, I have no idea, I'm just starting to get into reloading myself. But I assume that some resizing is necessary for pistol rounds.

Ellwood epps. I was in the area anyways so I didn't have to pay for shipping it worked out. Plus I like them, in the past they were good to me with prices if I bought lots.

Please, please! get one of these:

and read it through at least once before you start doing anything.

Reloading is a lot of fun, but make sure you understand what you are doing, and why, before each step. Keep it as simple as you can to start, don't be in a rush.
Don't be afraid to ask for clarification on anything in the manual, sometimes a simple rewording makes all the difference.

Welcome to a great new hobby! :D

Generally speaking, trimming of rifle cases is likely. Measuring after the resizing die is a must. If they stretch beyond the proper limits, they can fail to chamber, or worse cause excessive pressure from pinching the neck on the bullet as its forced into the throat of the barrel.

Congrats! I've had mine for a few months now, it works like a charm. There were some initial issues though, like the turntable didn't index properly and the primer ram would jam. The manual claims that the press needs no adjustment out of the box, and this was false, at least for me. The adjustments are very easy and are covered in the manual but I did find I needed to do them.

Don't forget to clean the packing grease off of everything, especially the powder drop!

One tip, get some graphite spray from a hardware store, spray it thick on a rag or paper towel, then once dry, rub it thoroughly inside the powder drop funnel (both the plastic and the metal parts). Then when you're not using the press, keep a fresh sheet of anti-static drier cloth in there. You'll thank me after you don't have to clean a layer of powder off the inside of the funnel every time you change powders. It's especially bad with small flake powders like H110.

Got the bullets, primer, case and powder, dies plates and case trimmers, have a Lyman pistol cartridge booklet, just need a bigger more complete book, a powder scale and a chrony- time to hit the EE

How many rifle rounds per hour? I generally load about 60, so it would be kind of a waste on me, but if I won the lottery......

I just got mine setup and have loaded 150 rounds so far of .45 ACP 230gr LRN.

Have fun!!!

Nice buy!

No need to trim pistol ammo. If you start loading for rifle however, you will need to start looking at trimming cases.

Also if you don't have a good reloading manual or two, make sure that you get a couple and read them, several times. If you have a friend or two who has experience reloading, ask them to mentor you a little bit.

ccain, does lead give you any issues with chambering the rounds because of the relative softness of the bullets? I assume you're shooting those in some type of 1911.

No issues at all. I actually just got back from the range and fired all 200 rounds I made with the press so far, and I didn't have a single problem - No FTF's or FTE's. All rounds were .45 ACP 230gr Lead RN. The only difference between the rounds were the type of powder used (100 rounds with Titegroup; 50 rounds with Unique; 50 rounds with HP-38) and primers (100 with Federal LP; 100 with CCI LP).

Good stuff. A very good idea to reload for .45ACP these days. I just sold mine in part because of the cost of ammo. I had wanted to try reloading for it and cast lead was what I had planned to try.
