My brother in law wants to bow hunt in Quebec. From years ago he had his hunting license, but seems to think he might also need a special bow hunting license.....is this so?

Are there any quebec hunters who could offer some advice?

thanks,
rob

I operate a hunting and fishing lodge here, just north of Ottawa, and a non resident can obtain a hunting license by showing proof of hunting before in your own province or state, by either a safety course or old hunting license from Quebec. The ministry has a website with the regulations, i unforunately dont have it here handy but i will fwrd it when i get my hands on it. If you wish to check out my website it is www.poirieroutfitters.com
Good luck on your trip plans

Dont think so Heavy Bullet, Bow course for residents only and shortly for using crossbows, but Non-residents can use any type of weapon so far as i know. Had a couple of non-residents from Ontario this fall for bow and all that was still required was proof of prior hunting .

My brother in law is a resident of Quebec, so from what you are saying, he will need the bow course.

Thx,
Rob

yes, if he is a resident, the bow course is mandatory. he can get the info on the courses from the ""Federation Quebecoise de la Faune'' on the location and dates of the different courses offered as they are mandated to give them. I took mine back when they first started being mandatory, 94-95 aprox, or contact his local conservation office as they usualy have the info on hand. courses are usualy held in the spring or summer, Hope this helps.
