"...you only need pal for 500fps and over..." That's for air guns only. No PAL required for any bow. If you're thinking of bow hunting this year, you'd best get a move on. Shooting a bow, other than a cross bow, isn't like a rifle. Shooting a bow, even a compound, uses muscles you use for nothing else and you need upper body tone. You must learn how to shoot as well.
Go to a bow shop, not a shop that sells bows.
They're not exactly inexpensive. Compounds can run close to a grand with taxes. You don't have to spend anywhere near that much for a good bow. Think several hundred though. Plus the arrows, that have to match the draw weight, run around $10 to $15 each with no head. Adds up, but your deer season will be much longer. No fuss about hunting on Sunday either.
