Bow string replacement

A question for the bow hunters.....I have have had a compound bow for about 5 years shoot it at 65lbs and am by all means still new in the archery world, I have never replaced the strings. I read that you should replace them every 3 to 5 years is there truth to this?
I maybe shoot it 50-60 times a year mainly around deer season. My strings look fine i wax them regularly....should i still replace them? what's the right amount of time to change them out?

If they look fine and have no fraying, youre good to go. If you only shoot that much strings will last a long time. Keep them waxed and not dry. Sometimes I clean the old wax off with dental floss before applying new.

The cables and strings will have stretched some which will affect bow performance and accuracy, but as stated if they look fine your bow isnt' going to explode.

Custom made aftermarket strings and cables greatly affect the feel of a bow just as much as an aftermarket trigger affects a gun.
