Bowling Pin Shooting

Anyone know of any bowling pin matches taking place in Ontario?

I know that Hammer had done some in the past but I dunno if he does anymore. Also, talk to some of the guys from Shooter's Choice/Colby Gun Club in Waterloo. I know that mini-pin is still going on at the above range.

We have a couple of baskets full of bowling pins at our club, it might make for a fun shoot. After the IPSC season is over I might think about doing one in the late fall. Sounds like a lot of fun.:D

I tried to get some bowling pins here in Ottawa for just that purpose.
The bowling alleys I approached told me they now use some sort of vinyl or plastic pins and no longer have the wooden ones.
Don't know what issues there might be with the use of this type of pin.
Anyone?

I have shot thousands of pins over the last 20 years but have never shot a plastic pin. Never heard of them being made of plastic!!!! If they are really hard you might get a lot of ricochets.

Plastic bowling pins have a nasty tendency to send bulets back at you. If you hit them off center, the pin is torqued around violently as the bullet passes through it and the bullet may well exit uprange....steel silhouette pins are a safer option IMHO.

Not want to change subject, but suppose no bowling pins in your area; what would make a good, cheap, substitute?

Theres a range out here that uses composite recycled plastic fenceposts, cut down to pin size. Seems to work real well.
