box of powder: what does the timestamp mean

EX should be the manufacturer code. 2015 year of manufacture. 11 month? I know the last numbers should be the lot number.
There should be a day number in there as well, but I am not sure.
This is only my best guess, but each manufacturer of civilian powders seems to use a slightly different format.

2015 is indeed the year of manufacture
this "timestamp" shows up in an 2017 Hodgdon pdf, which is no longer accesible
with the recent shortages I would have thought all powder should be new...ish
but there it is, 8 years old powder coming out from wherever it was stored

what irks me is that I've paid a lot because of "shortages" when in fact the powder was kept in storage.
it all looks like a manufactured shortage with all distributors colluding.
on a side note, on the same box it says "keep your powder fresh... rotate stock". go figure!

OK, was this box of powder just a container for other containers, or was it bulk powder, which may or may not be canister grade, in a plastic bag???
I've used up the last of such a box last summer, don't remember where I got it from and it was marked similarly but with H4831 and an earlier date/lot number.
If the box is the container, that very like came from a lot of commercial non canister grade powder intended for a commercial cartridge loader or commercial reloader.
I doubt you will have any issues with it as long as it smells good and isn't full of rust particles.
You're going to have to work up a load, rather than use your "go to" load.
I use a lot of those powders and for the most part they're every bit as good as canister grade powders but may be slightly slower or faster than their counterparts.

Something sort of wonky? 5 out of 6 different kinds of powders with same "EX-2015110873"? How can that be a time stamp or lot number? Maybe that number has a different meaning? Is it possible that those are the number of a shipment that was "EXported" from country of origin (where they were made) to Hodgdon? I just looked at a one pound bottle of H4350 - says it is "Made in Australia - Packaged in USA" - had to get "exported" to USA at some point? On the label, just at edge of French language sticker - is number 1120920 over 7265 - I had presumed that was the "lot" number? My notes say that I had bought 3 one pound bottles of it from same retailer in Brandon, Manitoba in March, 2021 - all three show the same number - I had presumed that meant they were from the same "lot"?? On that same purchase - same time and place - I got at least one bottle of Hodgdon VARGET - same place on the bottle's label has number 1121120 over 7251. Another one pound bottle of VARGET just found - says I bought that one on 2015 - same place on label - 1051915 over 5400

In the case of 1051915, my understanding is the first 1 designates a 1 lb container, packaged or labeled on May 19, 2015. The 5400 is probably the lot number. It has relevance to the manufacturer, in the event of a recall or query about that batch.
