So, as luck would have it, I stumbled across CanadaAmmo's forum just as his shorty M305 and a case of ammo promotion was really heating up. Although I hadn't planned on buying another gun (because I'm saving to build a house), somehow my credit card found its way out of my wallet and I quickly placed my order on-line.
Hell, at that price it would be costing me money not to have taken advantage. Or, that's what I told myself. Add in the "free" shipping and there was no way I could say no. My God, what if the Mayan's were right and the world really does end on December 21st? I needed a short M305 and case of ammo for when the SHTF in the aftermath and the Moose and Harp Seals rise up to reclaim my island home!
Lucky for me the GF bought it! What I had neglected to tell her was that I had bought a spare...
I placed the order on March 3rd and the Canpar truck dropped the crates of ammo of at my door about a week and a half later. Great service from coast-coast. The fact that there were two crates was easily explained, as one big crate would have been too heavy...Another bullet dodged.
Alas, my plans were derailed when my rifles were shipped March 21st via Canpar and not Canada Post. I had preferred the latter because I would've had to go to the post office and picked them up personally. No chance for nosy females to start asking questions I really couldn't answer.
Those bastards at Canpar screwed me. It took them over two weeks to reach their sorting plant in St. John's and then, they decided to ship my rifles back to Moncton, NB! I would've been laughing had they had their crap together and actually delivered the rifles the first week they were kicking around the Rock. I'd worked it out so that the GF was out of town visiting her sister But, no joy!
Several calls to Canpar and an email to CanadaAmmo later and I managed to get my shipment headed back in the right direction. They finally land back in St. John's, where Canpar staff "forget" them for a week. I live 90km away. Tracking the rifles on-line I was 100% sure a Canpar truck would be backing into my driveway the day after the rifles hit St. John's. I was wrong...
Another flurry of calls to Canpar and I was promised that I'd have the rifles by the weekend. Knowing that the GF would be out shopping all day Saturday, I politely requested that the rifles be specifically delivered only on this Saturday(tomorrow). Reassured by the service rep's promise to only deliver on Saturday I thought to myself "Hot damn! I pulled off another perfect score!" Yeah...
So, there I was getting out of the shower this morning when a sudden chill ran down my spine and I heard in the distance the unmistakable sound of a delivery truck's backup warning signal. The jig was up as soon as I heard that unique tone females only get when they know we've well and truly screwed up, or been caught in a lie.
Long story short..it looks like we'll be spending Xmas in Cabo. Thanks for nothing Canpar! Dad was right when he said there's no such thing as a free lunch... The screw-ups and 23 day delivery time I could live with, but I ain't never forgiving you for Cabo!!! What if the Mayans were right and my shiny new M305s are home sitting in my safe next to several crates of unused ammo while civilization goes t**s up???
Damn "Friday the 13th" jinx and Canpar! Never thought I'd say it, but I should have paid to ship via Canada Post!
