im not gonna lie, i find it hard to imagine anyone finding those stocks comfortable to shoot.
i understand what you say they are intended for and why they have made them so bloody uncomfortable but that is not what they list them as being.
they have been marketing them as the best stock for all around shooting with comfort and technology built into them.
i found them painful and i would rather throw rocks then have one of those at a shoot for a afternoon.

ill try it again next time im down visiting my dad because i do value your opinion Hoyt, but i dont know......
 
Purchased a M38 Husky in a synthetic stock from an Alberta gun smith. Didn't care for the black plastic stock, but the rifle was a tight shooter.
I also was looking at their "At One" stock...like you mention, didn't like the squareness or sharp edges at all.
Picked up their Prairie Hunter in Royal Jacaranda with a adjustable comb and other features. All in to my door was $375us

The prairie hunter is a great design. High comb, thin wrist, just heavy enough in the forearm to take a Rem varmint contour. I have a couple bedded into Remington 700's; vssf 223 Rem and a bdl 7-08. Really like them.

I have handled the at-one and never cared for it either.

If comfort is your priority, you won't like the grip on the standard At-One and you won't like the forearm on either... but if you are using bags or bi-pod the forearm does the job well... I find the grip on the thumbhole At-One to be very comfortable. If Sporter stocks are what you are looking for the Prairie Hunter or Boyd's other Sporter styles are much better choices. I would never put an At-One on a field or hunting rifle... although I did have a thumbhole At-One on a .22 LR and used it to plink grouse on one trip North... and it was fine, but a slim Sporter would have been better for walking bush.
 
Thank you for posting this, I was also looking at the AT One stock for my rifle. Not now... it looks so much nicer on their website. Brutal.
Also, HuskyDude thanks for sharing the alternative! I really like that Prairie Hunter.
