I'm looking to modify my CZ 455 Boyd Tacticool stock to be more similar to a McMillan A5. Any idea on how to replicate the grippy texture on the pistol grip and forend?

Some add texture to composite stock gripping areas with devcon. Google "devcon texturing" but it will look horrible compared to stippling the actual wood in my opinion.

Either way, good luck on the project.

Defiantly use a 2 part epoxy, like devcon, or jb weld. Tape out the shape you want. Sand the the area. Smear on the compound then dab it a rag or something, to make peaks. You might have to wait until it starts to kick so that the peaks do fall to much. Once it cures, sand down the sharp peaks to get desired texture.

That sounds like it should work nicely. I'll do a practice piece on some scrap first though.

Before you do anything you can't undo, try some of sticky sided sand paper with a grit approximating the texture you are looking for. See if you like it first.

Depending on the stock, not all stipling is raised. Some stocks have an outline engraved by machine or with a checkering tool the area around the outline is heavily masked and the rest can be sandblasted to the desired texture. I have done this and seen it done and IMHO it looks and works well.

Here is a link to the process I believe the OP is thinking about.
