I just noticed the very same stock i ordered from them went up in price about 100.00 from when I bought mine. How can they justify this with the canadian dollar where it is? I tried emailing them, but I can no longer find their email address..

Doesnt make much sense to me. I should be getting paid for all the people I have referred to them from this webpage.

I don't know about the price hike but I am impressed so far with the customer service. I ordered a stock for my nefew's model 88. Thet were out of stock at the time but promised to ship it as soon as they did a production run . That is exactly what they did 10 months later, I had totally forgot about the order. but they hadn't. then they called me and explained that they had messed up and sent me the earlier style not the later style that my nefew needed. so they are shipping me tha proper stock and told me to keep the older style one , no charge. I have recieved the first one and should recieve the proper one in about a week. Compared to what passes as customer service these days I am very impressed. I will definetly be doing more bussiness with Boyds. I have always thought that how a company handles itself when things go wrong is the true test of it's character. Byods has impressed me so far. we will know for sure when the second stock shows up.

Have you considered a Richards Microfit?

Export / Import Regulations:There are no special requirements for us to ship a rifle stock to any location in the world. A wooden rifle stock is simply referred to as "Wooden Sporting Goods" on all customs forms, and there are usually no restrictions on the importation of this product in most parts of the world because it is not considered a gun part. However, please check with your local customs agency to determine if any import permits or documents are needed in your country to import a wooden rifle stock.

Canadian customs doesnt care about stocks or "most" firearms parts/accessories, as long as you pay your duties/taxes. Its the US govt that is enforcing its EXPORT requirements, ala int'l import permits from the Canadian DFAIT.

I would recommend staying as far as possible away from Richards Microfit. I just finished waiting for over 10 months for a target stock for a Rem 700SA.

Their customer service is brutal as they don't respond to phone calls, faxes, or e-mails if you are able to get any of the above through to them. They know how to bill your credit card but not much else. I finally cancelled my order after 10+ months of waiting.

I have read some horror stories on the US forums about the quality of the product being very poor and requiring extensive bedding and finishing.

Consider yourself warned.

Import permits are free, check the legal forum, there is a sticky explaining how to obtain. You can debate all you want regarding the legalities of importing a riflestock vs. a piece of lumber. However Boyds is requesting an import permit on any shipments over $100.00. Call their customer service number to confirm. I have ordered a number of stocks finished and unfinished in the past few years. Service has been excellent, their products in my opinion are a good value.
