Boyds birch sporter

Im planning on buying a couple boyds stocks after christmas one being for my savage edge. I noticed today looking in the accesories on their site, they sell a birch sporter for the axis.
First off, im pretty sure their the same but does amybody know are the stocks for the edge and axis the same? Boyds are off till the new year, so i wont get a response from then till then.
2nd question is has anyone tried one of these birch sporter versions that they have on accesories page for the axis, ruger american or mosin nagant (only 3 rifles they make them for) and if so what are your thoughts and opinions on them?
Price tag on them is $80 compared to almost double on cheapest laminate.
If i hear bad things, i dont mind spending the extra on laminate, just curious of the quality and fit and finish.

The edge and axis are the same rifle. Savage changed the name because someone had the name "edge" copyrighted. Or something to that effect. At any rate, it was changed for legal reasons.

Thanks Nomad. I was pretty certain that they were the same but just had a name change. Now just need to figure out info on these stocks. Have searched the web and found little info on them. As I said if I find negative comments on them, I don't mind spending the extra on laminate like I had planned. May stick with original plan anyway, just curious on stock for what seems like great deal.
