I'm thinking of ordering a Boyds stock for my 375 Ruger. Has anyone on here bought one of their laminated stocks? How are they for fit and finish?
Thanks
I've only bought the finished ones and had very little woodworking left to do. I drill out the bolt holes and install pillars and bed the action in epoxy.
Digger2, did you install the recoil pad yourself. Or did you have the smith do it when he bedded the stock?
338WM, I had the stock cut to 13.5", and he had to grind fit the Kick-ezz pad. It was also bedded at the smiths at the same time. I think he did a great job of it. Shot well on my Alaskan to. Haven't shot it much with the Whelen in it yet. Hope to get out this weekend.
Digger2, would you mind giving the name of the smith you had the work done at?
338WM
Sure no problem, I had the work done at Wise Choice gunsmithing. Rob Wise is the owner. He is just about 10min north of Epps. If I remember correctly he is Ellwood Epps's grandson. The original owner of Ellwood Epps Sporting Goods. Rob is a good guy and knows his stuff, I have never had a problem with any of the work I had done there.
