The commercial tung oil finish contains a drying agent, unlike Pure Tung Oil. Nice job on this stock. You found the key to success by applying the finish and then wiping it off so that it does not accumulate on the surface of the wood. The commercial tung finishes need to be wiped off more quickly than the PTO to avoid a surface build up. Personally I like the Minwax Tung Oil finish to replicate a dull MILSPEC appearance when refinishing military stocks.
