I need opinions, but I am leaning towards a laminate stock.
Would it look stupid if I used the handguard that came with my M305 and ordered a new laminate stock?
What is your experience with delivery time from Boyds & Freds?

I've made a few purchases from Boyds and would not hesitate to deal with them again! The pepper laminate is what I've got for my M305 and use the factory upper and it looks just fine.
Heard mixed reviews and feelings from people who have had dealings with Freds, sounds like its a crap shoot. Some get great service and some get absolutely nothing for their $.

The Boyd's stocks are listed as finished and not finished. I was wondering if the finished stocks allow for drop in of the receiver or do they require any bedding? I love the prices, thinking of ordering one after seeing how nice the pepper lam. is.

I think they're drop in for Springfield's but not for Norincos--but the amount of work to make it fit isn't too bad...there's more info in this thread.

Not at all, I think. I was tempted to use my original (I had painted it black so it would've been a good match) but I decided to go with the full package.

The four M-305's I've used with the Boyds stocks were basically a drop in fit. Two were bedded and the other two not, the bedded rifles shot much tighter consistent groups. Significantly better infact. Pay a little more and get the "finished" stock. In my experience it can take from 1 to 4 months for the Boyds stocks to arrive.

My Boyd's "pepper" laminate stock was bought unfinished and the M305 dropped right in VERY nice stock!

Can be seen here in the middle of some other toys...
