Boyds Oversized M1A Stock

Oversized means it's built thicker to more easily accomodate the cuts necessary for match bedding the receiver. The wrist is also a little thicker.

I prefer the service grafde profile personally, but the oversized ones are very useable.

Will they sure don't provide much information here: boydsgunstocks.com/M1A-STYLE-1-STOCK-WALNUT-FINISHED-p/200-929.htm

the boyds type 2 is a nice stock BUT it is a fairly major bedding job, done in multiple stages. the action literally floats in the recess milled into the stock prior to bedding.
just find all the info you can on full bedding steps for the m1a/m14 and you should be o.k.

oversized = BIG as in FAT as in a HANDFUL.
My M305 has a Boyds oversize... beautiful, ###y looking laminated stock. Looks great at the range but would be cumbersome to go hunting with. I don't even take it to the range for fear of scratching the stock. If you plan on hunting with it, don't get the oversized model unless you are built like Grizzly Adams.

Good call. Thanks for the heads up.

I guess I'll keep on shopping for a walnut/nutmeg/birch/laminate stock without that darn cut-out. Ugh, it's not an easy feat!

get the boyd's stock with the glass beding cut already done....will save you a lot of time when it comes to glassing.
