Boyds stock in walnut

Anyone have a Boyds stock in walnut? How's the quality of the wood? Thinking about getting a Pro Varmint or a Rimfire hunter in walnut for one of my Savage Mk II's with their 90 degree high gloss finish. Would you suggest their laser engraved checkering or stippling? Which one? Not a lot of images out there.
 
Boyds walnut stocks are available in what Boyds calls a "standard grade". I'm unaware of other grades. Some stocks may have more "character" than others, but expect something on the plain side and be surprised with something more. I had a Boyds walnut Pro Varmint stock on a CZ rifle a few years ago. It was plain, as can be seen in the photo below.

The die they use is pretty dark like the pic from grauhanen.

Ordered one a couple years ago. It was pretty plain and dark as above.
Decided to strip it and to my surprise, it has decent wood.

If I order another walnut stock from them, I will choose the unfinished option.

Here what it looks like after refinishing...

Nice grain. A light walnut stain would do this stock justice.

Nice grain. A light walnut stain would do it justice, IMO.

BTW, where did you get your Single shot adapter.
