So can anyone let me know if they have put a Boyd's Stock on a Savage with a detachable magazine. I am looking to dress up at Model 16 and see from Boyd's website that they only offer models with a blind magazine.

you will have to inlet the stock for the DBM yourself or get a smith to do it. I have done a couple myself , it really isn't that hard but it does take some time . Another option is a stock from Richards Microfit , his stocks can be orderd with inletting for DBM but they don't come finished you will have to fianl sand and put a finish like True Oil on it.

If you are OK with a top loader you can phone Savage and order a magazine well retainer and a longer front action screw (shipped less than $10), you just pop the base off the removable clip and it becomes your mag well, assuming you are going from a synthetic stock you will need the longer front screw. I bought a Richards microfit stock a few years ago and was not happy I have bought about 6 or 7 Boyds stocks since and been pleased every time(2 were for Savages). If I really wanted the removable clip I would go with Boyds and inlet it myself.

Yep, I have 3 Boyds already (2 700's, One M14) and have had no problems and they look great. I guess I will go with the blind mag option and if I don't like it, I will get it inleted and go back to the detachable magazine.

Thanks Guys.
