So Boyd's has a stock I really like except that I have a lefthanded action and this stock has the bolt handle recess cut in the right side. If I ask them to not cut the bolt recess will they do it? I would ask them but they are not open on weekends. As well this model is out of stock so it's not like they have them sitting around to ship. This stock is finished and I would order a semi-inlet but I don't want a Monte Carlo which is what they offer in the semi-inlet version.

I'm also assuming that a Mauser 98 stock will be close to fitting a Zastava M70 stock?

Oh and Boyd has all lefthanded stocks on sale for $99 until Jan. 9th.

All my dealings with the laddies down south I have found to call them and ask questions.
With Boyd's, if you can talk to anyone other than the gal at the phone, you never know
what is leaning up in a corner out back.

Looky is right... in your case, never mind ordering online, call direct and get what you want... you will thank us later... I have 3 boyds stocks on the way after my last purchase... no more plastic in the safe for me!

You should call them. This may have changed but when I ordered my stock for a mauser 98 they have a disclaimer that they do all inletting except for the bolt handle because of the variations in how mauser bolt handles are bent and fitted. So I had to file and sand mine out anyways, along with a recess for the safety. It's not a tough job. Also, If you are looking at a finished stock be careful of price, unless you can get that $99 sale, your oreder has to be under $100 for them to ship to Canada

Although the website still says that, the new laws allow you to ship anything under 500.....

Not true anymore about the $100 limit......It's $500 now,

I knew a fellow who requested that Boyd's not cut the bolt handle notch, so that he could inlet for a left hand bolt... They refused to alter the standard pattern... So now he has a bolt slot on both sides. I order all my stocks online, couldn't bother talking to them... There are fewer mistakes if you do it yourself... Assuming that you read the notes carefully...

Phil - How much of a difference is there between a Mauser 98 with detach floor plate, a large ring and a #1 barrel and the Zastava's? This is the route I was thinking of trying. Thoughts?

A Boyds stock for a 98 Mauser will NOT have a bolt cut from the factory. If you are purchasing it for a Zastava also note that there will be no notch for the side safety, nor will there be a notch for the floor plate release.

Best bet is to call them and confirm exactly what you need.

I'm also a lefty. Got a Savage 111 Trophy hunter for Xmas, but not crazy about the plastic stock. I'm on the fence about the scope too, but I'll deal with that later. Anybody have any recommendations on a tactical or thumbhole lefty stock for this rifle.
