Just 2 Qs:
Finally, a new stock for my 305 shorty! But here's what I'm wondering:
1) Will the hardware from my Norco transfer over w/o a lot of woodcarving? The steel bed liner has to be installed...
2) When they talk about the Norinco vent hole being in a different spot, this is of no consequence whatsoever-- I replaced the original black plastic stock with an old USGI one last year and it's absolutely fine; the vent hole is just about an inch difference and, "no worries".
But what are they talking about when they mention the part about how the receiver may require some fitting?
Are they meaning installing the Norco liner or what?
BTW-- When I got the USGI (c/w liner, front ferrule, and front sling swivel) all the other steel parts from the Norc dropped right in--no trouble from the buttplace or rear sling attachment.
Has anyone done one of these Norinco ---> Boyds swappouts already?
BTWW-- A month ago I ordered one of the Boyds laminated stocks for my Savage MkII. I'm 100% satisfied.
It's a beautiful bit of woodwork, and was truly a 'drop-in'; installation took <5 minutes. Their service was good, and delivery was prompt. I'm a big fan of Boyds.
