Boyds stocks to finally offer options for Savage Axis and Tikka T3

From Boyds

This stock is designed for the Savage Short Action Detachable Box Magazine rifles with top bolt release. The magazine release is located on the bottom of the floorplate.

These stocks are designed for the 3 piece design DBM parts as found on wood stocks. Some plastic stocked models will require you to purchase additional parts from Savage or Brownells. Not designed for old style side magazine release.

Also it looks like the Classic, Prairie Hunter & Featherweight Thumbhole are the ones to be offered. I know of a cartain T3 .300WSM that'll be getting a Pepper Laminate stock once avail. Sure beats paying $675 for the Tikka version...

Given the design of the axis trigger guard,i am just curious how they will pull it off. Will axis owners have to buy a different trigger guard and mag set up?

Still better then having to deal with that crappy stock they use. Also no different then the savage rimfire conversion. Have to buy $50 in parts form savage to do it.

Well I got on their mailing list and got an email yesterday.

Looks like they added a small plate for the mag retention and the recoil lug is included. As for having to buy extras to make it work? Nope just the 2 take-down screws from the existing stock and you're good to go.

The plastic trigger guard on the original stock is replaced by a new metal one included on the Boyd design. I'm putting this one on my "I've got to get list" in the Prairie Hunter model done up in pepper laminate.

I still wish Bob Fortier was still making his, but this is a nice inexpensive alternative.

I like the look of the Prarie hunter in nutmeg.I have the forest camo on marlin 60,pepper on the 7400 so I guess it's time for nutmeg.I seen earlier in this post the limit is $500 now for international customers, but there Site still says $100?I know they are $99 but it would be nice to get the checkering since I couldn't before due to price.
