I have read and been told a lot about how to better my reloading. I reload 45/70 for black powder shooting.

Most people say use a 2 ft tube and slowly pour the powder so that it has time to settle and compact in the case. I have no luck with this method.

Others say to put the powder and wad in the case and use the vibratory case cleaner to seat the powder. This method works amazingly well. And if I time the process, it only takes about 30 seconds.

Okay guys, talk to me. What is your opinion? Helpful suggestions are also appreciated.

Either way works. I've had better luck with the drop tube and not sure that I understand what issues you have had.

Heard of quite a few people vibing the cases too but always felt it was harder to keep consistent. Probably just haven't found the right vibration source yet.

Keeping the pour consistent. I also don't get anywhere near the compaction that I do with the vibration method. I can get 70 grains of FF in my case and still only have a small amount of final compression when the 525 gr bullet is loaded. When I add the wad I am going to reduce to 67 or 68 grains.

I'm not sure what the problem is with drop tubing, I gain about 1/4" of capacity by drop tubing it 42 inches(very slowly).
