I am finding the vernier sights on my 1885 is nit as clear as I had hoped they be. Thing is a younger person says they are fine. Never thought I would feel.old at 45, but ya get what ya get.

Anywho, I am trying to find a BPCR scope. Optics Planet said they could ship, but canceled the order. Guess terrorists use bufalo rifles. Does anyone know anywhere in Canada that has BPCR scopes, or a place that will ship to this side of the border?

Are you lloooking for a traditional brass tubed scope or a steel bodied scope of a bit more modern era but still with external ( return to battery ) adjustments ?
Ellwood Epps has a Lyman Super Targetspot 15X for sale for a good price.

Call Montana Vintage Arms directly. They will send scopes direct to Canada, but you should probably use an importer like Prophet River Firearms to handle the importing permit to prevent it from being seized by the tax collectors at the border. It's a pretty easy process. MVA builds scopes to order so it can take several weeks before they ship. DZ Arms is another good choice, especially if you plan on mounting blocks on 7.2" centres.

That is a pretty good price if it's in good shape! Strangely they say it has dovetail mounts. Not legal for a silhouette match if that's what the original poster is interested in though.

I am looking more towards a Malcom style scope. Not necessarily all brass, steel is fine. Straight tube 3/4" with external adjustments. Tried to get a Hi-Lux, but no dice.

What does Prophet River charge for importing?

I bought a couple of Hi-Lux scopes from Wolverine in the past. They had to order the Malcolm type scopes, but it wasn't too long of a wait

What did you think of the Hi-Lux scopes? Which ones did you buy? They actually have some in stock right now.

I am not going to compete with the gun, more just to play. Was looking at the 18" length, but the 32" looks pretty cool. Only thing with the long one is it gets horrible reviews for the adjustable mounts.

Sorry I can’t help with the scope advice BUT are you permitted to use either an ADJUSTABLE IRIS or a DIOPTER in your rear vernier?
I’ve got a couple of decades on you and my eyes went south years ago. However, I got a lot of help from some Target Rifle guys and though
my vision is not anywhere as good as it was even 5 years ago, I can still shoot peep sights using an ADJUSTABLE IRIS. Just closing down that rear diameter really sharpens the front sight. Also there are shooting frames available (KNOBLOK) where you can install a single lens that is ground to focus your vision at whatever distance you want, so your focus is still on the front sight. Best of luck.

None of the BPCR / BPTR matches allow them. The scope rules are pretty restrictive too. Limits on tube & lens bell diameters, as well as mount types.

I was happy with the two I had, I still have one. The adjustable mounts are Ok for the type of "set it and forget it" shooting I've been doing, probably not great for the "up 2 clicks, left 5 clicks, down 7 clicks, up 5 clicks, right 5 clicks type of shooting. Lol

Agreed. Everyone that I know has ordered from MVA.
