BPS disscontinued

I was just looking around randomly on the net , at gun stuff , and see the Browning BPS was disscontinued. I was unaware of this and a bit surprised to read it ! I have one that I bought new in 1978 or 79 and although it was never my favorite pump gun , I hung onto it , and can say it has never gave me one bit of trouble. It always preformed well and functioned flawlessly. It wasn't as smooth to cycle as the Wingmasters , and I found the stock a bit long for me , especially in the colder weather when extra layers and heavy coats came into play. Still , I liked it enough to keep it for 45 years.
I find it a bit sad that they have gone the way of the Dodo. It's just another sign of the times I guess.
Anybody know when they ceased making them? what year? All I see is Discontinnued , and no more particulars.

I just looked again and I see you are right. They are still in production. I don't know what the heck I was looking at this morning then !

I've always had 870s and M-37s for pump guns but the BPS in some ways is the best of the bunch with the bottom eject and tang safety.

The bps stopped offering rifled varieties. But the mainline, duck and turkey ones are still sold. Winchester and browning are under the same entity. You can now find the rifled barreled pumps as winchester sxp's made in turkey. The bps made in Japan's miroku factory are still better by miles over the sxp in my opinion. Still kicking myself for not buying a bps rifled deer hunter.

Have a upland 20. Great for chasing ruff grouse in the aspen.

the 20ga upland special is really nice: the proportions are just right and I could carry it all day. I ended up getting rid of my 12 ga because the thicker english stock felt weird in my hand.

great shotgun but as a lefty i prefer the wingmaster to the bps ... some issues while cleaning it properly and the alloy used for the sights that can be thorn away.
