I am a lefty and am looking for a dedicated trap gun and this gun caught my eye. Just wondering if any owners out there can recommend the pros and cons. Priced out some new ones at around 750 plus tax which seems pretty realistic for my budget under 900. Pretty sure I could find a used one for 600.

I had a BPS Trap for a short while and shot a few rounds with it. Mine shot one full pattern high at 16 yard trap and that took a bit of getting used to, other than that it smashed targets just fine but I found it cumbersome to flip the gun upside down to insert a fresh cartridge through the bottom of the receiver 25 times for a round.
I can't remember what year mine was manufactured but it was a few years old at the time and that was more than 10 years ago that I owned it, it was a well made gun though.

I don't think the BPS Trap is common and easy to find.

I suggest you get on the phone and get your VISA out if you can find a new one as the BPS has been discontinued as of 2024.

The BPS is a fantastic shotgun but it’s not easy to find a new one in Canada as they discontinued them a few years ago. The Trap model is even harder to find, even used, and if you do find one most are asking a pretty good dollar for them. Great gun if you can find one, and as someone who has used a BPS for Trap, it can be a pain to flip the gun upside down to load 25 times a round lol.

Given that all models of the browning BPS have been discontinued they will be harder to find, the BPS trap models were hard to find before so chances of finding a new one now well it may be hard. There are still a few dealers that have the BPS in stock, some are the wood and some are the composite stock models but they are the field model and not the trap model. The trap model came with a wood stock only and had the monticarlo drop at heel to enhance the higher pattern for trap, I shot a BPS trap model for a while and it patterned 85/15 for me which is good for trap but not that great for skeet or sporting or field shoot you may want something that shoots closer to 60/40 which is what browning claims their field guns shoot.
Anyway good luck with your search, hope you find what your looking for.
