......BPS's................

Scrumbag,

i can link you to the french decree from 29 of june 2018.

to be able to keep your pump shotgun you need a barrel of 60cm for slug and rifled only at least the whole lenght has to be 80cm and no foldable stock plus 4+1 for the mag capacity.

the mag capacity cannot be altered so a gunsmith need to do a fix up if not buy with that fixed capacity.

if for any reason the shotgun cannot be reversed into those new rules you can ask for a shooting license and it will not count as the 12 firearms as a shooter is permitted. if denied you have 3 months to surrender to a gunsmith.

anyway we were authorized pump action shotgun up to 1995 then grandfathered then a law prohibited them, then authorized then restricted them again so you can see why the owners do not want to try to left in limbo again.

Ah, that's a real pain!!!

When I asked about it I got told "Don't bother, too complicated. Just get a semi-auto". I can see why that view was taken!

Scrummy

for sure all the guys at the hunting association we were members we had all semis for ducks when i was younger no semis everybody had bump. so i imagine as of today a few are left in barns like mauser and stuffs from wars ...

funny that a friend of us in the gendarmerie had a french made bps: they have now rem 870.

I really like my bps. the "feel" of them is top notch and they make the right noises. Bottom load the first shell right in the chamber is possible, just drop one on the forks and push the forearm forward. If your coming from a side eject like I did, it does feel awkward at first but you get over it quick. The trigger is well done too.

I owned the upland version of the 12 ga for about a year, I decided to sell it for two reasons. First of all, it's a heavy gun. Not a problem in a waterfowl blind, but it's far from a pleasure to carry.
The second reason, they're an absolute pig to strip and clean thoroughly. Those that complain about stripping and reassembling a Ruger Mk pistol have never owned a BPS.
Slick working shotgun, and well made.

Three thumbs and four index fingers required....
But, if that's the worst thing about them.......
LoL.
