Trying to do more shooting then posting these days.

For budgeted benchrest I've tried epsom salt in a large ziploc bag. I get it to form and then just with my mouth suck the air out of the bag. Seems to work out not too bad.

(1)What I like about epsom salt is that, it's course and seems to interlock. I could try ball milling it down but I'm not sure what would be the best granular size just yet.

(2)Anything better out there on the cheep side?

When funds are more plentiful I'll smarten up and get a real rest. The benches at the local range might need a small touch too.

My flame suit is on so fire away. Please read carefully before flaming.

Cheers

For $5 I bought what must have been a 20 kg bag of "sandbox" sand at a local toy store. It is very fine sifted sand, so it packs down really well. It makes my sandbags very dense and heavy.

Make a bag from an old pair of jeans & fill it with sand. Over stitch the top & GTG.

I have a bunch of these and they are good. However, the next batch I make (or I may re-do) will have plastic bag liners as the sand always seems to creep out of some unseen micro-hole and scritches up the stocks. so for now the jean bags look a little silly with all the duct tape patches plastered all over.............:D
